What the app can do
- See a colour live in your room. Point your phone at a wall and it shows the colour you picked, as you move around.
- Match a colour you love. Point the camera at a cushion, a curtain or a picture and it finds the closest of more than 1,200 Dulux colours.
- Get colours that go together. Add a photo and it suggests a set of colours that work with it.
- Save and share your ideas with family, so everyone can have their say.
- Order a tester pot to your door from inside the app.
Step by step: trying a colour on your wall
- Download the app using the button above. It’s free. Open it once it has installed.
- Allow the camera when your phone asks. The app needs it to see your wall.
- Choose a colour. Browse the colours, or use the colour picker to match something in your room.
- Point your phone at the wall and tap it. The wall changes to your colour on the screen.
- Walk around and look again from the doorway and from where you usually sit.
- Take a screenshot (a picture of your screen) of the one you like. On an iPhone, press the side button and volume up together (on an iPhone with a round home button, press the home and side buttons). On most Android phones, press power and volume down together.
- Send it to Blade with the colour’s name, by WhatsApp or text.
Getting a true result
- Use daylight. Try colours in the daytime with the lights off, then again in the evening with them on. Colours change a lot between the two.
- Treat the screen as a guide. Every phone shows colour a little differently. Before you decide, put a tester pot on the wall in two places: one in the light, one in shade.
- Look at it for a day or two. A colour that shouts at first often settles, and one that looked safe can feel flat.
- Think about the finish. The same colour looks different in matt and in silk. Blade can tell you which suits your room.

The free ChatGPT app can show your room in a new colour from a photo. Take a picture of the room in daylight, open ChatGPT, tap +, add the photo and type something like “Show this room with the walls painted soft sage green.” Ask again with another colour until one feels right. It’s a quick way to compare ideas; for an exact shade, match it in the Dulux Visualiser.
